Dr. Shawna Stenton—School-Based Decision Making Councils
During my 16 years in education, I have been a
teacher, a school administrator, a central office administrator, and a
parent. I currently serve in the Division of Diversity, Equity, and
Poverty Programs as the District Specialist for School-Based Decision Making
(SBDM) Councils. In my position, I provide training and support for 137 SBDM
Councils, consisting of more than 1,000 parent, teacher, and administrator
members. These councils are the legal governing bodies of schools and have
the responsibility of enhancing student achievement by creating policies in
various areas.
